1 Day of Peace? Why not 365?

Jeremy Gilley speaks about his ongoing struggles and successes for one day of world peace

When I was skimming through the titles of which TED talk to watch, I
saw the title "Jeremy Gilley: One day of peace" and I instantly knew that this was the one. I am completely blown away by what Jeremy has accomplished and all of the work he put into getting September 21st to be nationally and world-widely known as a day of peace. The fact that he took his small invisionment and really put his heart and soul into getting it out there makes me admire his compassion fully. He made me believe that ANYTHING is possible when you put your mind to it, that you can make your wildest dreams come true if you don't give up. He sure didn't give up when he went to a conference to spread the day of peace on September 11th, 2001. Does that date sound familiar to you? He was in that very conference when the twin towers were hit. Which is exactly the opposite of what he represents. Instead of giving up, he decided that that called for an even bigger call of action, that no matter what he was going to bring peace to the world if only for one day a year.

If I was in the audience when he was giving his TED talk, I wouldn't ask any questions. I would just want to meet him afterwards, introduce myself and tell him that he truly is someone I look up to and that everyone should look up to. My whole life, even as a kid, I thought to myself, "Why can't everyone just get along? Why do we have to go to war? Why can't we just get the fact that we're all in on this together? The world would be a better place if we all were in harmony." That is why I am fully behind the idea of having a day of peace. But why does it have to stop there? Why only one day? Why not a whole week of peace? A month? A year? How about every day we share the joy of peace?

Considering the fact that the date I am writing this is on September 15th, there are 6 days until the day of peace. If you so wish to participate, what are you going to do to spread peace?
